How to make your eyes look bigger with make-up
Whether you have smaller set eyes or simply want to make them pop, there are a variety of eye make-up tips that can help you achieve this and make them look bigger with make up.
Eyeliner is the key to making your eyes pop, as it creates a frame that helps them stand out from the rest of your face. Draw a very thin line under your bottom lash line but don’t apply eyeliner all the way around your eyes. It will only cause your eyes to look smaller. Aim to keep eyeliner to the outer thirds of the eyes. Applying soft white eyeliner to your waterline (inside of your eyelid) will also make your eyes appear bigger by extending the white part of your eye. If you are brave enough when applying eyeliner on your upper eyelid you can extend your eyeliner beyond the outer corners of your eyes. We are not aiming for the winged liner look here, just a subtle lift. This line should mimic a very long eyelash, and should make your eyes appear wider, but it is a tricky technique to get both eyes in perfect symmetry. Be patient as a little practice will pay off.
For eyes that pop, focus a light shadow on the inner third of your eyelid, closest to your tear duct. The lighter colour acts as a highlight to create an open appearance to the eye making your eyes look wider and more awake. I like MAC eyeshadow in vanilla €16.50 or a cheaper option would be NYX in white pearl. You might think that dark shadow will make your eyes look smaller, but strategically placed colour actually does the opposite. Make sure to keep the darker colours to the outside third of your eye. I really like MAC eyeshadows in wedge and cork to achieve this look. Adding a highlight under the tail of your eyebrow on the highest part of your eye socket – the brow bone, will give you a lift to your eye by drawing the attention upwards.
Your eyebrows frame your eyes. By removing any stray hairs you can make your eyes more noticeable
Creating length coming up and out of the eye draws the focus away from the lash line, making the eye look wide open. To achieve this effect invest in a pair of eyelash curlers and curl your lashes. It really opens up your eyes.
Sara’s Highly Recommended Product: Rapid Brow Eyebrow Enhancing Serum €49.99
This product really works, it will help transform weak, uneven, sparse brows. My mum started using it about 3 months ago. Her eyebrows were thinning and she applied the serum religiously every morning and night for 3 months and trust me it works! It is ideal for anyone considering getting HD brows as you need to have hair to work with to achieve this look. It is expensive but worth it.
