Sara’s Favourite Foundations
Ok so let’s talk foundation and my favourite foundations. After good skin care, foundation is in my opinion is the most important product. Finding the best foundation for your skin type is no easy task, whether it’s light coverage for a natural day look or full coverage flawless skin you’re after.
With so many options to choose from – how do you know which one is best for your skin? There are the variations of base – from matte to glowing finishes, light to full coverage and price points from budget to high end brands – plus, matching your skin tone to your foundation is key to perfect coverage. And thanks to brands like Fenty Beauty leading the pack, we now have a much larger range to choose from.
If you have oily skin, stick to matte finishes; if you have dry skin, opt for an oil-based formula. Here is my top picks of foundations that I have tried recently.
Starting with the cheapest and one that I am really impressed by, it is the Bourjois Healthy Mix foundation. This is a medium to full coverage foundation but yet feels lightweight.
Bourjois Healthy Mix contains vitamins C, E and B5 that helps give the skin an instant anti-fatigue effect. The hydrating formula keeps your complexion radiant and lasts well through the day. Medium-full coverage.

Nars – Sheer Glow
Next up is the Nars sheer glow foundation. This has a lovely creamy foundation. Long lasting and a full coverage, without a heavy feeling. This foundation has incredible luminosity with a dewy finish.
again without feeling too heavy. This foundation made my skin look so hydrated and I actually got so many people asking me what foundation I was wearing that day. Right now this is the foundation topping my list .

I couldn’t do a top foundation list without Mac studio fix fluid foundation. I use it all the time, this is my go to foundation and suits most skin types , oily and dry, it is a full coverage foundation and covers all blemishes. I stick with the NC shades as I tend to stay away from the red tones that the cooler NW shades tend to give.

Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk Foundation
Those of you that are regular readers will know that Luminous Silk is my absolute favourite foundation but due to its hefty price tag I tend to save it for special occasions. It has medium coverage, but leaves your skin glowing and it is one of those foundation that people will say ‘your skin looks amazing’. Along with Nars Sheer Glow, Luminous Silk are my two favourites foundations for brides.
Maybelline Fit me Matt + Poreless Foundation
I have been using this foundation for a while now as it had some good reviews. It is lightweight that leaves a leaves a natural finish. Ideal for normal to combination skin. It is recommended for use on oily skin but I would steer clear if you have lot of open pores and a very oily base. It works very well for me and the colour match and price is perfect.
L’oreal Infallible 24H-MATTE Foundation
There are few purse-friendly foundations that really do the job well, but this one is a bit of a wonder-product. Matte but not drying with medium-high coverage, this formula is best suited to skin slightly on the oiler side.
Fenty Beauty Long Wear Foundation
Since Rhianna launched Fenty soft matte long wear foundation it became the best selling foundation and has stayed at the top ever since. It is probably one of the biggest shade ranges, with an impressive 40 shades. The coverage is full and the complexion looks airbrushed.
Catrice HD liquid Coverage foundation is perfect to use for achieving a full coverage natural look. This ultra-light and non-oily foundation is easy to apply allowing for a smooth, even complexion. This is one foundation that will always be in my kit and at only €7.95 you can’t go wrong. Don’t be afraid to mix shades as it only comes in four shades.
