Five Secrets to Making your Nail Paint Last
There are nothing more frustrating than seeing chips on your nails a day or two after your nail polish application. Follow these 5 tips below that will help make your nail paint last longer.
1 Always start with a clean nail. For your nail polish to adhere properly, you need to remove all traces of any previous polish and oils from the nail.
2 Apply a base coat. A base coat provides a smooth canvas and prevents staining of your nails. It also allows your polish to grasp onto the nail.
3 Polish. Apply the colour in thin layers. Leave 1/8 of an inch away from the cuticle, pulling the brush straight down from cuticle to tip. Repeat on the left and right side of the nail. Cap the tip of the nail to avoid chipping. Allow 2 minutes to dry and then apply a second coat.
4 Top coat. Top coat is essential to help against chipping. The edge of the nail gets a lot of beating, so sealing the tip of your nail with top coat will protect your nail paint and you will get much longer out of your nail paint.
5 Top Up with Top Coat. Top up with a layer of top coat every 2-3 days and this will prolong the life of polish and prevent chipping.
